Brooks won two games Tuesday in the Gulf Coast Classic 3. In game one, the Lions defeated Fairview 7-2 in eight innings. In game two, Brooks defeated Battle Ground Academy (TN) 24-4.
Against Fairview, Brooks scored one run with two outs in the top of the 7th inning to tie the score 2-2 and force extra innings. The Lions then scored five runs in the eighth to secure the victory. Jonathan Coleman pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs in the first inning. Coleman settled in and struck out seven while scattering seven hits in eight innings. Logan Michael was 4 for 5 with three doubles and two RBIs. Caleb Brewer had three hits. Andrew Tucker, Brett Urban, and Coleman added two hits each in the victory.
Against Battle Ground Academy, Brooks used an eleven run 7th inning while pounding out twenty hits as a team. The Lions trailed 2-0 at the end of the third inning. Logan Michael earned the victory going five innings and allowing three earned runs. He finished with five strikeouts and allowed nine hits. Offensively, Avery Cox collected three hits and was a single shy of the cycle. He finished with four RBIs. Jacob Hall was a perfect 4-4 with three doubles and three RBIs. Lake Spurgeon had three hits including two doubles and four RBIs. Logan Michael, Kolton Medley, and Caleb Brewer all had two hits. Cole Mathis added a two-run homer.
Brooks concludes tournament pool play on Wednesday against GW Long at 11:30 at Fairhope.
